छात्रों को कुलपति महोदय की अपील (28 मार्च, 2016)

 

प्रिय छात्रो,

 

हैदराबाद विश्वविद्यालय देश के प्रतिष्ठित विश्वविद्यालयों में से एक है, जिसे उत्कृष्टता विरासत में मिली है. यह आप जैसे छात्रों, शिक्षकों एवं शिक्षकेतर कर्मचारियों की बदौलत ही है. अन्यथा यह कार्य इतने वर्षों में असंभव ही होता.

 

हाल ही में विश्वविद्यालय परिसर में जो घटनाएँ घटित हुईं, उनसे न केवल प्रशासन में मौजूद हमें बहुत दुख हुआ बल्कि परिसर के हज़ारों छात्रों और विश्वभर में स्थित कई हज़ार पूर्व-छात्रों को भी इससे पीड़ा हुई.

 

विश्वविद्यालय शैक्षिक नेतृत्व, उद्यमशीलता एवं व्यावसायिकता को आगे बढ़ाते हैं, अत:वेदेश के सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जी.डी.पी.) में प्रत्यक्ष या अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से योगदान करते हैं.

 

आप इस बात से अवश्य सहमत होंगे कि भारत दुनिया के महानतम देशों में से एक है. मेरा यह विनम्र मानना है कि समय की कसौटी पर परखा गया लोकतंत्र, निहित सहिष्णुता, विविधता में एकता पर हमें गर्व होना चाहिए. जैसे हर देश के सामने कुछ चुनौतियाँ होती हैं, वैसे ही हमारे देश की भी अपनी चुनौतियाँ हैं और इन पर जीत प्राप्त करने का प्रयत्न करने वाले हर किसी का हमें साथ देना चाहिए, जिससे हम भारत को और भी बेहतर बना सकें.

 

इस विश्वविद्यालय में उच्च शिक्षा प्राप्त कर रहे छात्रों के रूप में आपसे मैं क्रोध और संघर्ष की मानसिकता से ऊपर उठने का अनुरोध करता हूँ.

 

मैं और मेरी टीम इस संबंध में एक मिसाल बने रहेंगे और हमेशा की तरह छात्रों के साथ बातचीत के लिए सदैव तैयार होंगे. हमें संघर्ष नहीं अपितु समाधान के बारें में सोचना है. आइए, साथ मिलकर हम दीवारें नहीं बल्कि सेतु बनाएँ.

 

यह बहुत दुखद है कि हमारे कुछ छात्र और परिसर के दो शिक्षक कारागार में हैं. हालाँकि मैं इस मामले में हस्तक्षेप करना चाहता था, परंतु न्यायिक व्यवस्था हमारे नियंत्रण और अधिकार-क्षेत्र से परे है. मैं छात्रों से अनुरोध करता हूँ कि वे परिसर अथवा अन्यत्र हिंसा का सहारा लेने से बचें, क्योंकि इससे कोई सहज समाधान प्राप्त नहीं होता. कृपया अपने आप को, अपने अभिभावकों और विश्वविद्यालय को कोई कष्ट न पहुँचाएँ. स्वयं को अभिव्यक्त करने के अन्य सभी तरीके आपके पास उपलब्ध हैं.

 

मेरी यह विनम्र इच्छा है कि सभी छात्र एवं छात्र संघ साथ बैठकर इस समस्या का समाधान ढूँढ़ें. इस काम में मैं और मेरी टीम आपको पूरा समर्थन देगी. आइए, हम सब मिलकर आपके और इस महान देश के सुनहरे भविष्य की ओर कदम बढ़ाएँ.

VICE CHANCELLOR'S APPEAL TO STUDENTS (28th March 2016)

 

Dear Students,

 

University of Hyderabad is one of the prestigious universities in this country & has a legacy of excellence. It is because of the students like you, teachers & non-teaching staff.  It couldn't be possible otherwise all these years.

 

The recent incidents at the University Campus are painful not just for us in the administration but also to thousands of students on the campus & many more thousands of university alumni across the world.

 

Universities are drivers of academic leadership, entrepreneurship, professionalism and hence add great value to the Gross Domestic Product [GDP] of a nation directly & indirectly.

 

You will agree that India is one of the greatest nations in the world. I humbly believe that the time tested democracy, inherent tolerance, unity in diversity are what we should be proud of. While every nation has its challenges, our country has its own & we must support whoever are trying to overcome these challenges and make India a better place than ever.

 

I request you to rise above anger and confrontational attitude as students of higher education in this university.

 

I and my team wish to lead by example in this area, with our willingness to be always open for a dialogue with all students, which we have always been. Let's work towards resolution, instead of confrontation. Let's together build bridges than walls in this university.

 

It's very painful to see some of our students and couple of faculty members from campus spend time in jail. While I wanted to intervene, legal system is beyond our control and jurisdiction. I request the students to resist any temptation for violence on campus or anywhere else, as it would not yield any productive outcomes. Please restrain yourself from causing pain to yourself, your parents and the university. You have all other avenues to express yourself.

 

I humbly wish all students & student unions to sit together and resolve issues. I & my team will wholeheartedly support you in this endeavor. Let's move ahead into a promising future for you & this great country.
