There's no doubt that there's a huge water crisis on the campus. Students from various ladies' hostels (as are men) have been complaining of lack of supply for the past one week or so. We have already seen in the newspapers how students of MANUU gheraoed the VC's bungalow yesterday.
A few questions:
- What does it take for those concerned in the Engineering department to do some forward planning? Estimating how much water is consumed on campus and what's the supply and how to fill the gap?
- What does it for us to take steps to prevent unrest? (Not just in this case, but in all cases.)
- What does it take to make those responsible accountable for the lapses? One wonders why there should be so much delay in addressing leakages! Who's responsible and can accountability be fixed on such individuals?
- What does it take for students too utilise the facilities a bit responsibly? (Spreading awareness amongst themselves that taking out their angst on water taps/ coolers isn't going to benefit anybody!)
Here's hoping everybody on this list will take this email in the right spirit and address the issue across the campus (both in academic and residential buildings) at the earliest.

This is what happened in November too when we reported rivers of overflowing water in the G Hostel.

Case with Toilets in the G hostel (Ground Floor) and the overflow from the F&G hostel dining hall has been continuing for months now.
The overflow from the tanks goes roaring in the nights. As you know, the State is currently reeling under severe water crisis. This is affecting us badly on campus as well. We haven't received Manjeera water for over a week and have been purchasing water for the last few days. Very reluctantly we are resorting to digging bore wells and hope that almost normal water supply will be restored in a couple of days.
It is apparent that water has become a very precious commodity. Your help and cooperation is solicited in conserving water. Please use water as sparingly as you possibly can and also ensure that people around you are also doing so.
