Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad is pleased to present our contribution to the Hyderabad Literary Festival 2017. 

 

WORKSHOP & EXHIBITION by Katharina Kakar


WORKSHOP | WALK LIKE A GIRL | 27 JAN 11 AM – 1 PM |
28 JAN 11 AM – 1 PM |
29 JAN 2 PM – 4 PM

Katharina Kakar's workshop will inspire confidence through self expression and be accepting of and valuing diversity. The workshops will involve youth, young adults and adults to think about gender and connect to their own imagination through creative activity.


EXHIBITION | CROSSING THE LAKSHMANA REKHA – SHAKTI, SENSUALITY, SEXUALITY: ART INSTALLATIONS BY KATHARINA KAKAR
Katharina Kakar
lives in India for 20 years, as a writer, an academic and an artist. Her exhibition tells multiple stories about women that emerge from her own personal sense of India.

STAGE TALK | BUILDING & UNBUILDING WORLDS | 27 JAN, 12 PM – 12.50 PM 

Jaideep and Harshomohan will show how creating a graphic novel is similar to generating a self-contained world, they are often at the junction of journalism, architecture, photography, and film.


WORKSHOP | WRITING COMICS | 29 JAN, 10 AM – 12 PM
A workshop on decoding comics and the mechanics of creating panels and layouts, all from a practitioner's point of view. Participants will learn all about the basics of writing for sequential art, and will work to finish a one-page script by the end of the workshop.


EXHIBITION | EVERY CITY IS A STORY: GRAPHIC ARTWORKS
A city is more than the sum of its buildings and roads and monuments and people. A city is also an act of the imagination. This exhibition will show how the city is fractured and torn apart through panels and gutter spaces only to be reassembled in the viewer's imagination.



DESIGNXPORT


STAGE TALK | DESIGNXPORT | 27 JAN, 3 PM – 3.50 PM
Hamburg's new design centre was initiated in 2002 by committed representatives of the Hamburg Design Economy, to create a permanent public location for current design and a meeting point for designers. 



RADIO REVOLTEN: Stage Talk & Workshop & Radio Booth


STAGE TALK | RADIO ART
| 29 JAN, 2 PM – 2.50 PM
A discussion on experimental radio art. Prof. Vinod Pavarala, the UNESCO Chair on Community Media at University of Hyderabad, would be in conversation with Ralf Wendt and Michael Nicolai of Radio Corax in Halle, Germany, on the nature of radio art and the recently concluded International Radio Art Festival, Radio Revolten.

EXHIBITION | RADIO ART
HLF will have specified sound stations, where Ralf Wendt and Michael Nicolai from Radio Revolten, Germany, will curate some radio art, with special emphasis on audio engagement with modern and contemporary German literature.


TISHANI DOSHI: Stage Talk & Exhibition


STAGE TALK | AN ACCIDENTAL DANCER | 29 JAN, 12 PM – 12.50 PM
Tishani Doshi is an award-winning poet, novelist and dancer. She has been working with the legendary dancer Chandralekha's dance troupe since 2001, at the age of 26. A stage talk with Tishani titled 'An accidental dancer - My years with Chandra' will focus on Chandralekha's enduring question - 'Where does the body begin and end?'


EXHIBITION | A TRIBUTE TO CHANDRALEKHA: PHOTOGRAPHS BY DASHRATH PATEL AND SADANAND MENON
Chandralekha's choreography constitutes a deep interrogation of the Bharatanatyam form in a proscenium space as well as its mechanically interpreted mythological content. A few of her photographs-large and small will be displayed as part of the commemorative tribute.
