The images are of water flowing from the rooftop water tanks in ladies hostel 2 and 1. This has become A routine morning scene at least since the past two months. Formerly, this used to be just occasional. It is not clear whether there are more instances of water wastage elsewhere in the ladies hostel complex here, as I have captured the images of only the ones in the vicinity of my hostel.
Most of the times, the water flow starts from about midnight, throughout the morning. In the last few weeks, this happens in the evening as well. I remember calling up the plumbing staff late night twice (three numbers are put up in ladies hostel 3 notice board) and alerted them about this only to get lame responses. Once, a plumbing staff said that he is not on duty; and when I called the person on duty he said he is in the south campus office and is unable to come to the north campus side. Suffice to say that most of the time, they come only in the morning and stop the water flow. I am tired of complaining to the hostel staff too. They keep ringing up the plumbing staff whenever we complain and stop at that. Apparently, the ballcock/ float valves are damaged and that's why we wake up to the daily morning music (I assume it is amply clear by now as to why I am enclosing an old email written by a former student complaining about the same issue exactly a year ago).
I am not sure if the concerned section already knows about this. If you do not, please take this as a complaint. If you do, please answer why you are letting this criminal wastage of gallons of water everyday.

Good to know that Hausla is afloat. I do not too much details about the suicide attempt apart from the fact that he had issues with the supervisor.i also heard that he attempted suicide in front of the supervisor. i find this very disturbing ... the lack of concern for these suicidal tendencies among students and absence of discussion is indeed pathetic. good job. Have you pasted the posters? Sorry I couldn;t be of help..

ABOUT THE EVENT
Radio Revolten is a month-long radio art festival being held in Halle, Germany from October 1-31, 2016. About 70 artists from 17 countries will present contemporary art at various locations in the city in the form of installations, performances, concerts and interventions. On air, the festival will broadcast over radio, with 35 radio stations across the world relaying different parts. Radio Corax, a pioneering free radio station in Halle, has invited Prof. Vinod Pavarala, the UNESCO Chair on Community Media at University of Hyderabad, to attend the festival and participate in some of the related seminars and workshops being organized at the festival. Prof. Pavarala in this talk at GZ will share some of the excitement of Radio Revolten that he witnessed. He will speak about the relevance of radio as art and counter-culture in an increasingly globalized and homogeneous media landscape.

Prof. Vinod Pavarala is the Head of the Department of Communication and UNESCO Chair on Community Media at University of Hyderabad. He has been one of the leading scholars and advocates of community media in India.

About the Speaker: Dr Neelam Mansingh Chowdhry is a Chandigarh based theatre artist. She was awarded the 2003 Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. She is also the recipient of the 2011 Padma Shri Award and the 2004 Shiromani Bhasha Vibhag Award of Govt. of Punjab. She has taught at Panjab University, Chandigarh and worked at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal. With her theatre group called 'The Company' she has produced many plays and staged them in many cities of the world including London, Perth, Los Angeles, etc. Her most recent work has been with the artist of the National School of Drama, Delhi.
