Dear Sir/Madam,

 

It is our pleasure to inform you that a National level Essay Competition, "GREAT Essay 2016" is organized by British High Commission & Amity University. It is a unique opportunity to celebrate and promote the UK and India's shared culture of vibrant discussion. This initiative will also strengthen the links between Indian and UK Students.

 

All the Indian students pursuing UG and PG Programmes of Age up to 23 years as on 31.12.2015 and having a valid Passport are eligible to apply for the competition. The winner of 'GREAT Essay 2016' competition would be sent for a one-week sponsored study tour in the UK. The trip will be once in a lifetime opportunity to experience Culture, Arts, Commerce, History and Politics of the UK. All other participants will receive Certificates issued by Amity University & British High Commission jointly.

 

The 'GREAT Essay 2016' competition will have three rounds. Prelims would be held at respective Institution/College/University during the month of December 2015 between 1st Dec 2015 to 8th Jan 2016 and result should reach by 10th Jan2016, and the Semi Final and Final will be held on 18th & 19th January 2016 at Amity University Campus, Sector-125, Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

 

Learned Officials from British High Commission and Amity University would scrutinize the essays received from various colleges and universities and select 200 Writers for the Semifinal Round.

 

Participating students who will qualify for Semi-final round will be invited to Amity University campus, Sector- 125, Noida for "ON SPOT ESSAY COMPETITION" on 18th January 2016.

 

After writing the Essay, students will be required to present their essay in front of the Jury. Based on the content and presentationBest 5 Essays will be short listed for Finals, which will be held on very next day, on 19th Jan'16.

 

All candidates will be the part of the mega valedictory event on 19th Jan'16 during which result will be declared for best five essays. The five short listed writers will then read their essay on the stage .One best essay would be selected and Jury will declare the Winner. The BEST of all essays would make it to UK!  On this day, the higher authorities from British High Commission & other Dignitaries of repute would chair the event.

 

Participating students will have to arrange Travel logistics by their own or through their college/ university; No TA will be given Amity. However, for the participants, residing out of Delhi NCR, free Hostel accommodation will be provided by Amity.

 

We extend a warm invitation to your students for availing this unique opportunity to win a study tour to UK through this mega academic bonanza- 'GREAT Essay 2016' competition purely on the basis of their writing and verbal skills. You are requested to organize an Essay Writing Competition on the topics (as per attached file) in your campus and send the soft copy of Best five Essays along with Participants' Information Form (attached herewith) to Dr. Alpana Kakkar, Dy. Dean of Student Welfare, Amity University by e-mail at akakkar@amity.edu by 10th Jan 2016. Prelims essay word limit is 1500 words.
