Newton Bhabha PhD placements 2015 is now open for applications and information is available on http://www.britishcouncil.in/newton-bhabha-phd-placements-programme

The programme is jointly funded by the British Council India and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and offers up to 20 short-term (3-6 months) PhD placements for Indian and UK PhD scholars to spend a period of their study at UK and Indian higher education or research institutions.

Key Dates

Deadline for call of applications: 7th December 2015

Selection results announced by – 15th February 2016

Placements to be taken between: April to December 2016

Eligibility Criteria

·         Applications are welcome from PhD scholars from India and UK in Biological and interface Sciences.

·         On the UK side: The scheme is open to PhD scholars from all institutions which are strong in research in the priority sectors .

·         On the Indian Side: The scheme is open to PhD scholars who have qualified any National level test and pursuing PhD in Biological and interface Sciences with reference to priority areas.

Priority areas

The priority areas for this call are as under.

  • Biological and medical sciences,
  • Engineering, Physical and Space Sciences

·         Environment, Agriculture and Food Sciences

·         Public Health and Well being
