THE BANKRUPTS (HAAL-E-KANGAAL)

105 minutes / Black Comedy / Hindi / India / 2015
Cast: Niraj Sah, Hemant Mahaur
Associate Director: Suresh Gujar

The Bankrupts is about two filmmakers who meet after a gap of fifteen years. As one of them narrates a script of a film to the another, the past catches up with them and for the two friends the celebration soon turns into a secession of one up-man-ship where accusations flow freely - the question of success, of failures and of a subtle comparison of individual achievements arise. The duo by the end of the film realise that they are as bankrupt as ever - literally, and in all sense of the word.

Production Notes
The Bankrupts or Haal-E-Kangaal is a two-character film set in an apartment in a Housing Colony in the City of Mumbai, India. The two characters are caught in their web of their own making and by the end of the film realise a sense of emptiness, worthlessness and bankruptcy.

LOHIT DIARY

76 minutes / English-Hindi-Mishimi-Assamese / EST / HD / Documentary / India / 2015
Producer : Films Division
Writer / Director : Ramchandra PN
Camera : Narayanan Venkataraman

Amidst rampant opium cultivation in Eastern Arunachal Pradesh in North-East India, Basamlu Kisikro engages opium growers into shifting to green tea, Tewa Manpoong supports fellow addicts into rehabilitation and Uncle Moosa spreads the joy of reading amongst children.

Production Notes
Two years of filming in four schedules has resulted in this film. This started off as a documentary film on Sathyanarayanan Mundayoor, a south INdian residing in Arunachal Pradesh for more than 30 years. Ground realities compelled me to expand the scope of the film to include opium cultivation in the area.

Ramchandra PN is an Indian filmmaker based in the city of Mumbai. He is a 1991 'Screenplay writing and Direction' graduate from the 'Film and TV Institute of India', Asia's premier film school situated in Poona. His first feature SUDDHA The Cleansing Rites) won the Best Indian Film at the 2006 Osean Cinefan Festival of Asian Films. He second feature PUTAANI PARTY won the best children's film at the 2009 National Awards. Over the years, he has been making documentaries, features, short films and TV programs; and also has been off and on involved in film academics.
