ABOUT THE EVENT
Radio Revolten is a month-long radio art festival being held in Halle, Germany from October 1-31, 2016. About 70 artists from 17 countries will present contemporary art at various locations in the city in the form of installations, performances, concerts and interventions.  On air, the festival will broadcast over radio, with 35 radio stations across the world relaying different parts.  Radio Corax, a pioneering free radio station in Halle, has invited Prof. Vinod Pavarala, the UNESCO Chair on Community Media at University of Hyderabad, to attend the festival and participate in some of the related seminars and workshops being organized at the festival.  Prof. Pavarala in this talk at GZ will share some of the excitement of Radio Revolten that he witnessed. He will speak about the relevance of radio as art and counter-culture in an increasingly globalized and homogeneous media landscape.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Prof. Vinod Pavarala is the Head of the Department of Communication and UNESCO Chair on Community Media at University of Hyderabad. He has been one of the leading scholars and advocates of community media in India.
