[WhatsUpUoH] Drinking water issues

Dear all,

For your kind information, let me bring some facts to the fore with regard to drinking water. Day by day, the drinking water in urban areas is getting contaminated by various minerals, bacteria and germs. Hyderabad is one of such cities which is facing the same situation. With the summer season at the peak, all the major water sources have dried up in Hyderabad, Krishna river project is the only savior. Most of the parts of the city are experiencing water woes. Similarly, it has a major impact on the UoH campus. Most of the hostels have to grapple with shortage of both drinking and bathing water. About 5000 people live on this campus. On the face of most of the water sources having gone defunct, most of the people have to depend on a few sources. Water gets contaminated due to no maintenance and overuse of the sources. Though on campus some of the hostels have RO water plants, most of them are not working properly due to lack of maintenance. As a result, those who have this contaminated water, they fall ill. Some of them suffer from a number of diseases like stone in urinary tract, gall bladder stone, stomachache and so on. Of recently, about five cases have been observed. Out of which, at least three from the School of Chemistry. This may prove lethal too. So, administration should ensure that no one suffers from such diseases.

However, i request the administration to take the appropriate steps and do the needful. Thank you.
