Prestigious ACSBI award for Arunasree of UoH


Only 3-4 researchers working in the field of Cancer around the World are chosen for this award

Dr. M.K. Arunasree of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been awarded the prestigious international American Cancer Society Beginning Investigator's Award (ACSBI) sponsored by Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).  Each year this award is given to 3-4 academic researchers around the world in the beginning of their career working in the field of cancer with a goal of developing future leaders in cancer research.


The ACSBI award will fund Dr. Arunasree for carrying out research in collaboration with Dr. Zhibin Wang at world renowned cancer research center, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA for a year. Her research as an ACSBI will help to understand the genetics of breast cancer metastasis.


Dr. Arunasree is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Biology at University of Hyderabad since 2011. She has done her masters in Molecular and human genetics from Banaras Hindu University and joined Prof P. Reddanna's lab at the Department of Animal Biology at University of Hyderabad, for her PhD. She got her doctoral degree in the year 2008 for her research on chronic myeloid leukemia. She also has other national prestigious awards such as DBT-RA, DST Young Scientist, DST Women scientist and DBT-Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award to her credit.
