[WhatsUpUoH] Invitation to participate in the GREAT Debate 2014

Dear All,

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the British Deputy High Commission, Hyderabad, will be hosting the GREAT Debate 2014, in partnership with British Council. The Hyderabad leg of the All India Inter-University Debate will take place at the Amjad Ali Khan College of Business Administration (Formerly Sultan-ul-Uloom College of Business Administration), Mount Pleasant, Road No.3, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad -34 on 16th October, 2014.

I would like to extend a warm invitation to two teams of two students each from your esteemed institution to participate in the regional Hyderabad heats. Please kindly note that only students below 23 years of age can participate. The winner will then go on to compete for the grand prize in Delhi in November. I am happy to inform you that the winning team will be awarded a week-long, all-expenses-paid trip to the UK.

The rules of the competition is quite straightforward. The topic of the debate will be revealed closer to the event. One student per team will speak for the motion and one against (for 3 minutes each). Each speaker will be asked two questions; one from the panel of speakers and one from the distinguished panel of judges.

The great debate is a unique opportunity to celebrate and promote the UK and India’s shared culture of vibrant discussion and intellectual debate. I hope your institution is able to participate. We would request you to confirm your participation in writing to Nalini Raghuraman at nalini.raghuraman@fco.gov.uk by 9th October, 2014.

Please feel free to contact the undersigned for any queries or information.

Sincerely,

Nalini

Nalini Raghuraman | Political Economy Advisor |British Deputy High Commission, Hotel Taj Deccan, Road No.1, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad - 500 034
