The next Sawaal-Jawaab discussion organised by the TIFR Centre for
Interdisciplinary Sciences
features Prof. Rohini Godbole of the Centre for High Energy Physics at the
Indian Institute of
Science, Bangalore. As many of you may know, the 2013 Nobel Prize in
Physics was given for the
prediction of the Higgs boson, and Prof. Godbole was present at CERN when
the discovery was
announced in 2012. She will discuss what the discovery involved, and how
it affects our current
understanding of the building blocks of nature and the fundamental forces
among them. She will
also talk about implications for as yet unsolved cosmic mysteries such as
dark matter and dark
energy.
